Riding at lake Balaton

Csikós Riding Centre
The Csikós Riding Centre is situated at the convergence of two streams in the Upper Balaton National Park at Klára-Puszta, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton and four miles from the Tihany Peninsular. The hotel is built in the style of a country manor house and contains 22 bedrooms, each fitted with an en-suite bathroom, a fridge and a telephone. The centre has its own restaurant and Saddle Bar and is open throughout the year.
Chief Gyula’s Riding Empire
Chief Gyula lives at the foot of Csobánc Hill in the Tapolca Basin, which has one of Hungary’s most beautiful and varied landscapes and is part of the Upper Balaton National Park. His Empire provides riding lessons, one-hour, two-hour, one-day and one-week tours, as well as riding for hunting and summer camps. Horse shows include traditional military displays and demonstrations of the skills of traditional Hungarian herdsmen and cowboys.
Szabó Family Equestrian Guesthouse
Horse enthusiasts who like to spend their free time relaxing actively are invited to Hévíz for riding lessons, carriage riding, four- and five-hour horseback tours and excursions to the sights of Keszthely, Sümeg and Hévíz.
Taliándörögd Equestrian Guesthouse
This pension, set in 3½ acres of grounds, has been converted from an old nineteenth century grain store and has ten twin bedrooms and a restaurant and bar. The stables were built at the same time as the main building and are set back from a large ring.
Galopp Riding Village
The Galopp Riding Village is situated in almost ten acres of private grounds in Zamárdi-Felső, a town in one of Hungary’s most popular holiday destinations – the southern shore of Lake Balaton. Five hundred yards from the waterfront, the Riding Village includes an inn and riding school and attracts several thousand guests every year. The shingle-roofed building serves food and wine with an unmistakable Hungarian flavour, all washed down with live gypsy music.
Rádpuszta Riding Centre
The Rádpuszta Riding Centre at Balatonlelle, on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, was established in 1998. The centre is involved predominantly in breeding and stabling Lipizzaner and Hungarian half-blood horses, but it also keeps indigenous farm animals, such as grey cattle and Racka sheep, donkeys, and – a recurring favourite with the children – dogs and ponies. Riding is available all year round and special equestrian events are staged throughout the summer.
Pelsonius Arab Stud Farm
With around three hundred horses, Pelsonius is one of the largest Arab thoroughbred and Shagya-Arab stud farms in Europe. Horses bred here have consistently performed well in Arab shows and sporting events all over the world. Visits to the stud farm can also be arranged if booked in advance. For further information please consult the Pelsonius website.
Kál Polo Club
The Kál Polo Club holds demonstration polo matches, organises riding lessons and offers specialist horses and ponies for hire. Argentinean polo horses are available for sale and the club's resident Argentinean trainer also offers his services.
